RBI board finalised Utkarsh 2022 to improve regulation and supervision

09 July 2019 Current Affairs: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) board has finalized Utkarsh 2022, a medium term strategy, to improve regulation and supervision, among other functions of the central bank.

Odisha state government implemented the Centres Witness Protection Scheme 2018

09 July 2019 Current Affairs: The Odisha state government implemented the Centre’s Witness Protection Scheme 2018. Naveen Patnaik led Odisha govt. informed the Orissa High Court on 6 July. By this Odisha became the first State to implement the Scheme.

On December 5 2018, Supreme Court has directed all States and Union Territories to endorse the Central scheme on Witness Protection Scheme-2018. It said that the Witness Protection Scheme, 2018 shall be the ‘law’ under Article 141 and 142 of the Constitution, till the enactment of suitable parliamentary or state legislations on the subject.

Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu released a book titled Vivekadeepini

Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu released a book titled Vivekadeepini, a concise book of aphorisms. It was initially written by Adi Shankaracharya who is one of India’s greatest spiritual and literary geniuses. Vivekadeepini: Vivekadeepini is a summary of Prashnottara Ratnamalika written by Adi Shankaracharya.  The book has compiled a select 36 verses drawn from 67 verses of Prashnottara Ratnamalika.

Uttarakhand named among best performing states in ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ scheme

09 July 2019 Current Affairs: Uttarakhand is one of the country’s five best-performing states under the National Programme Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme .

The main aim is to address declining child sex ratio and issues of women empowerment. As per the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development, the recognition for its consistent performance in respect of sex ratio at birth.

Haryana bagged three awards which include one state-level and two district-level awards for consistent performance in respect of the Sex Ratio at Birth (SRB). The two districts of Haryana won the awards are Bhiwani and Mahendragarh. The state felicitated in recognition of its consistent performance in respect of sex ratio at birth.

Uttar Pradesh govt set target to become 1-trillion economy in coming years

09 July 2019 Current Affairs: Uttar Pradesh government set the target to become one trillion dollar economy in coming years .

The state can contribute in fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of expanding the country’s economy to 5 trillion dollars. The annual workshop of regional agriculture science centres in Kumarganj agriculture university at Ayodhya, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath the agriculture sector of state can play a major role in achieving the target of one trillion economy.

The UP has the potential to feed the entire world. Yogi Adityanath the last 5 years were very important in the field of agriculture in the country because of the various schemes launched by the central government Pradhan Mantri Sinchayi Yojna and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna.

The agriculture scientists and people associated with regional agriculture science centres to play an important role in developing the brand of one agricultural product from every district of the state.

 

Brazil won the Copa America2019 title

Brazil won its first Copa America 2019 title since 2007. It defeated Peru and secured 3-1. The team already owns the fifth and ninth Copa América trophy.  The event was hosted by Brazil. Everton was named player of the final and also finished as one of the tournament’s top scorers with three goals. Dani Alves, Brazil’s right-back, was awarded the player of the tournament. The last time they won the Copa América was in 1989.

Dravid appointed as the Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru

10 July 2019 Current Affairs: Former India captain Rahul Dravid has been appointed as the Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The appointment was announced and approved by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on 8 July. He is currently the vice-president of India Cements.

Budj Bim Cultural Landscape received UNESCO’s World heritage list

09 July 2019 Current Affairs: The Budj Bim Cultural Landscape in south-west Victoriahas received UNESCO’s World heritage list. It is the first in Australia to be in the list. UNESCO’s desicion recognises Budj Bim’s significance to all of humanity. Budj Bim is the 20th site in Australia to make it on to the UNESCO World Heritage List,

IOC removed Kuwait suspension and allows participating in 2020 Olympics

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) removed the ban on the Kuwait Olympic Committee (KOC) and permitted to compete in the 2020 Olympics.  Kuwait suspended in October 2015 following under government interference with the basic principles that govern the Olympic Movement. FIFA suspended the Kuwait Football Association for the same reason in October 2015. KOC successfully implemented a roadmap agreed between all parties  They participated in the 2020 Olympics.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis sworn in as the Prime Minister of Greece

Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Greek conservative leader, sworn in as the Prime Minister of Greece. The election result gave New Democracy an outright majority with 158 seats in the 300-member Greek parliament. He is EU’s most indebted member who promised to end a decade of economic crisis.

Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship: India win 13 medals

10 July 2019 Current Affairs: India won 13 medals on the opening day of the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship

The event is held in Apia, Samoa. The medals comprised 8 Gold, 3 silver and 2 Bronze. Mirabai Chanu led the Indian medal rush in the senior women’s 49 kg event She won the gold medal in the Olympic qualifying event. She lifted a total of 191 kg.

Jhilli Dalabehera won the first place on the podium. She made a lift of 154 kg in the senior women’s 45 kg In the senior women’s 55 kg, Soroikhaibam Bindyarani Devi won the gold In the senior men’s 55kg category, Rishikanta Singh won the gold of 235 kg.
