PM Modi lanched National Animal Disease Control Programme
11 September 2019 Current Affairs: PM Narendra Modi launched the National Animal Disease Control Programme for Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and Brucellosis in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. The government has announced that it will fund the Rs.12,652 crore for the programme for a period of 5 years till 2024.
Aim: The programme aims at vaccinating over 500 Million livestock including cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats, and pigs against foot and mouth disease (FMD). It also aims to vaccinate 36 million female bovine calves annually in its fight against Brucellosis disease.
The programme has two components:
♦ to control the diseases by 2025
♦ to eradicate FMD by 2030
India participated in the 84th TIF in Greece
The 84th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) was held in Greece. The fair is being held from 7 September- 15 September 2019. TIF was organized by TIF-Helexpo. The 9-day event is expected to bring approximately 80 enterprises from various sectors of the Indian economy including technology and primary production to Thessaloniki. India is the honoured country in the international trade fair.
ANGAN, an international conference, was held in New Delhi
11 September 2019 Current Affairs: An international conference Augmenting Nature by Green Affordable New-habitat (ANGAN) was held from 9-12 September in New Delhi. The conference focus on Energy Efficiency in the Building Sector.
The conference was inaugurated by Shri Raj Pal, Economic Advisor, Ministry of Power and Shri Abhay Bakre, DG, BEE.
Modi and Oli inaugurated Motihari Amlekhgunj energy pipeline
11 September 2019 Current Affairs: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nepali Prime Minister Right Hon’ble K.P. Sharma Oli jointly inaugurated South Asia’s first cross-border petroleum products pipeline on 10 September. The energy pipeline is from Motihari in India to Amlekhgunj in Nepal.
This project will deepen the bilateral relations between India and Nepal and expand across diverse sectors. The Nepali PM Oli announced to reduce the price of petroleum products by Rs.2 per litre in Nepal.
PM to inaugurate Sahibganj Multi Modal Terminal at Jharkhand
11 September 2019 Current Affairs: Sahibganj Multi-Modal Terminal (MMT) will be inaugurated by PM Modi with the Minister of Shipping & Chemical Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya on 12th September in Jharkhand. It is a two-way data communication system and India’s second riverine Multi-Modal terminal on the Ganga river. The MMT was built at a cost of Rs.290 crores in 2 years.

11 September 2019 Current Affairs: Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi addressed the High Level Segment of the 14th Conference of Parties (COP14) of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD)
India have always given importance to land. In Indian culture the Earth is held as sacred and treated as a mother.
India’s Indices were submitted at the Paris COP at the UNFCCC. It highlighted india’s deep cultural roots of maintaining a healthy balance between land, water, air trees and all living beings. Friends it would make you happy that India had been able to increase its tree cover. Between 2015 to 2017 India’s tree and forest cover increased by 0.8 Million Hectares.
The government launched a program to double the income of farmers by increasing crop yield through various measures. This includes land restoration and micro irrigation. We are working with the motto of per drop more crop. We are increasing the use of bio fertilisers and reducing the use of pesticides and chemical fertilisers. We have created Jal Shakti Ministry to address all water related important issues in totality. India would put an end to single waste plastic in the coming years.
India Will Restore 26 Million Hectares of Degraded Land by 2030
10 September 2019 Current Affairs: India will restore 26 million hectares of degraded land by 2030 target of 21 million hectares, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at a UN conference to combat desertification.
India’s resolve to tackle the problem of plastic waste at the 14th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) at Greater Noida. The agenda of the UN conference is to reverse degradation of land and fix critical gaps in its management.
India will be happy to help other friendly countries develop land restoration strategies through cost-effective satellite and space technology,” Modi added.
Rajiv Kumar appointed as the new MD of Microsoft India
10 September 2019 Current Affairs: Rajiv Kumar as the new managing director of Microsoft India (R&D) Pvt Ltd (MIRPL).
Rajiv, who is currently the Corporate Vice-President of Microsoft’s Experiences and Devices) Group. He will replace Anil Bhansali. He will continue as the Corporate Vice President of Cloud & Enterprise. The 27-year long career at Microsoft.
The recent key contributions to Microsoft are Kaizala (an enterprise productivity chat app) and bootstrapping the campus hiring program in India resulting in Microsoft hiring the best talent from premier engineering colleges in India.
IPPB launched AePS services
10 September 2019 Current Affairs: State Judicial Academy of Jammu & Kashmir said that J&K and Ladakh will become two separate Union territories (UTs) from 31 October but it will have a common high court. This order was issued by the State Judicial Academy’s Director Rajeev Gupta.
Other declarations:♦ It also declared that the 108 Central Laws would be applicable for the two UTs whereas 164 state laws would be repealed and 166 state laws can still be applicable.
♦ Legislative Assembly will be formed in J&K as UT.
♦ There will be no legislative Assembly in the Union Territory of Ladakh and hence it will be directly controlled by the Central government. Also, the existing law and procedure for practice in high court will be the same.
Mumbai ranks 5th and New Delhi 11th in the 2019 Knight Frank Co-Living Index
10 September 2019 Current Affairs: Knight Frank India, the leading international property consultancy launched a report titled Insights on Co-living An Asia-Pacific Perspective.
As per the report, China’s co-living sector is one of the most developed having started since the early 2010’s, Beijing is ranked 1st in the Co-living Index followed by Tokyo and Shanghai. Mumbai is ranked 5th in Knight Frank India’s co-living Index.
SLINEX 2019 is being held at Visakhapatnam
10 September 2019 Current Affairs: The annual Joint Indo-Lanka maritime fleet exercise named SLINEX 2019 is being held from 7-12 September at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The seventh edition of the joint drills exercise is being held.
Aim: SLINEX 2019, the bilateral maritime exercise, aims to help the two Navies to understand each other’s procedures and to contribute towards maritime security in the Indian Ocean region. It ensures to enhance co-operation and strengthen mutual trust and interoperability between the two navies.
Kenyas Kosgei sets new record in 2019 Great North Run
kenya’s Brigid Kosgei won the women’s half-marathon event in 2019 Great North Run in Newcastle, England. She finished the run with a time duration of 1 hour four minutes and twenty-eight seconds. Her time was twenty-three seconds faster than Kenyan Joyciline Jepkosgei on September 8th, 2019 in London.
Worlds highest marathon was held in Ladakh
10 September 2019 Current Affairs: The eighth edition of Ladakh Marathon was held in Leh town, Jammu Kashmir. More than 6,000 runners from different parts of India and 25 foreign countries participated in the marathon. It was sponsored by Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC).
The full marathons were jointly flagged off by the Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC, Leh Gyal Phunchok Wangyal and Additional District Development Commissioner Mozes Kunzang. The half marathon was flagged off by Dilbag Singh, J&K Director General of Police. The 7-km-long Run for Fun was flagged off by Lt Genl YK Joshi, GoC of 14 Corp of the Army.
Prime Minister to Launch Kisan Man Dhan Yojana on the 12th of September
10 September 2019 Current Affairs: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana on the 12th of September at Ranchi, Jharkhand.The Scheme shall secure the lives of 5 Crore Small and Marginal Farmers by providing a minimum pension of Rs 3000 per month to attain 60 years of age.The scheme has an outlay of Rs 10,774 Crores for the next three years.The small and marginal farmers who are currently between the ages of 18 to 40 years can apply for the scheme.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi shall inaugurate 400 Eklavya Model Residential Schools to provide quality upper primary, secondary, and senior secondary level education to ST Students in Tribal dominated areas.

Gurugram traffic police partners with Google maps for traffic updates
The Gurugram traffic police from the Haryana State has partnered with Google maps for real-time traffic updates. The tie-up will provide traffic-related information in real-time for public use.
The Gurugram traffic police with Google maps will share the information such as planned road closures, diversions, traffic alerts regarding road crash, etc. The Google maps will immediately respond to the given search conditions and update the information on its public maps.
